i looked everywhere but didn't see anything about this. i got a virus last week and decided to just start over and reinstall everything on my computer. i have all my music and video on my ipod and don't want to lose any of it. what's the best program to transfer all the stuff on my ipod back to my computer?

well... while i was writing this i found sharepod. i'll try it but if anyone knows a better program i wouldn't mind knowing for the future. i'm sure others wouldn't mind this info also.

Sharepod is the one I used to use myself; works well.

thanks for getting back so quick. is there any way to keep playlists or do they get lost in the transfer no matter what?

You should be able to retain the playlists you had on the Ipod when you transfer them to your PC. :D

If sharepod doesn't work, yamipod should also do the job

don't use any program

do it the jgv115 way:

1) connect ipod with itunes open
2)Enable disk mode
3) reconnect
4) don't erase library
5) go to my computer, a usb drive should be there (your ipod)
6) go to folder options and make sure hidden files are viewable
7) The music is hidden in a hidden folder for you to find (damn apple bastards)
8) All your music will be named in a stupid 4 digit name (eg. JE9F)

This works with my ipod Classic 80gb not sure if it work on yours though :S
